There's mixed reaction in Clare to the country's first Aviation Policy, which looks at developing all aspects of the sector in Ireland.
The document, which has been launched by Transport Minister Paschal Donoghoe contains twenty-five points relating to Shannon Aiport, including that it will remain in state ownership.
The 93-page document contains 70 actions relating to the development of all aspects of the aviation sector and includes 75 mentions of Shannon Airport.
But Scarriff-based TD Michael McNamara believes its main focus is on Dublin airport to the detriment of Shannon and says ownership of the facility wasn't in question.
Clare TD and Fianna Fáil Transport Spokesperson Timmy Dooley is giving a cautious welcome to the policy saying the most important aspect of the document is allowing stakeholders in the aviation sector to come forward with ideas.
Deputy Dooley agrees there's little change to aspects such as ownership and safety but says its important to get behind the policy nonetheless.
He believes the focus should now be on growth at Shannon.
But Fine Gael TD Joe Carey is welcoming the policy and says that Shannon has always been and will continue to be a priority for the Government.
Deputy Carey says Ireland's first aviation policy does have positive implications for Shannon and the Mid-West.
