A Shannon councillor is calling for the misconception around the legality of dumping green waste to be tackled in a bid to reduce the scourge in his area.
Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn raised the issue at a recent meeting of the Shannon Muncipal District, citing an increase in the amount of green waste being dumped in the region.
A total of 13 complaints regarding green waste in the Shannon MD were logged with the local authority in the past 12 months.
Councillor Flynn feels people may not realise that dumping green waste is illegal.
