They'll turn down pay increases worth up to five thousand euro a year for the Taoiseach.

It's a reversal of pay cuts which were imposed on politicians, as well as all public servants, under a series of national pay deals.

In the Dáil today the education minister Richard Bruton has said politicians will lead by example.
