The Minister of State for Disability is opening a new Regional Respite and Residential service for children and adults with severe and profound disabilities in the region this lunchtime.
Carrowgar, on the outskirts of Clarecastle, will provide 1,200 bed nights per year and will meet the needs of over 100 adults and children with disabilities in this county, as well as in Limerick and North Tipperary.
Funded by the HSE and operated by Rehab Care, the service will support those with severe or profound learning difficulties, accompanying physical disabilities, complex medical and healthcare needs, as well as those who may have additional sensory impairments.
Director of Care with Rehab Care and Kilnaboy native Gráinne Fogarty has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that a huge gap existed in the provision of respite and this service will make a difference.
