Minister Critical of Anti-Household Charge Groups

The Environment Minister is warning people who plan on not paying the household charge – that the law of the land will be applied.

Phil Hogan says he is engaging with the Data Protection Commissioner and local authorities to make sure the 100 euro charge is collected.

The deadline for registration for people who want to pay by direct debit is tomorrow – everyone else has until March but opposition is continuing following public protests against the household charge in Kilrush and Ennis at the weekend.

Minister Hogan has hit out at the campaigns that are encouraging people not to pay.
