Minister Claims Uisce Éireann Needs To Be “More Involved” In The Delivery Of Broadford And Cooraclare Sewerage Schemes

The Minister for Rural and Community Development says Uisce Éireann needs to be more involved in the delivery of wastewater treatment plants in two Clare communities.

Despite being included in a Government pilot scheme for unsewered settlements announced in December 2023, Broadford and Cooraclare have yet to see any progress on their wastewater schemes.

Housing Minister James Browne confirmed earlier this month that funding for the projects has been approved, while Uisce Éireann has stated contractors are to be appointed next year.

Speaking during a visit to Clare, Fianna Fáil Minister Dara Calleary says he’s “frustrated” by the slow movement of the schemes.
