A Miltown Malbay – based doctor says mental health has always been the "cinderella group" of the health service.
Dr Billy O'Connell is commenting following the publication of the 2015 annual report from the National Office of Suicide Prevention, which shows that Clare's suicide rate is now at its highest in a decade.

The data for 2014 and 2015 is provisional, but shows Clare has one of the five highest suicide rates in the country.
Dr O'Connell, who is a member of West Clare Taking Care, says services on the ground have continuallly suffered from a lack of funding and he believes this is preveting those who need help the most from getting it.
