MidWest Simon is urging tenants at risk of homelessness in Clare to prepare for the eviction ban to be lifted.
January’s record homeless figures, which show there were 65 adults accessing emergency accommodation in Clare, have led to renewed calls for the moratorium on evictions to be extended beyond March 31st.
A decision on the matter is due from government prior to the Dáil recess for St. Patrick’s Day, and despite government ministers reassuring that the matter is still up for discussion, many are fearful that the ban will be removed entirely.
CEO of MidWest Simon, Jackie Bonfield, has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan that homeless charities and local agencies need people to reach out in order to evaluate how many would need to be accommodated if the ban is lifted.
