MidWest Simon Sees “No End In Sight” To Increased Demand Clare’s Homeless Services

MidWest Simon says there’s no end in sight to the increased demand for Clare’s emergency accommodation services.

Homeless services in Clare are at capacity, with 28 new presentations to the local authority’s Homeless Action Team in the first three weeks of March, in addition to 138 repeat engagements.

While, the latest Department of Housing report shows the number of homeless people in Clare rose by 9% at the end of February, when compared to the previous month.

 

The moratorium on no fault evictions was lifted over the weekend and Head Of Operations at MidWest Simon, Elisha Fahy is adding her voice to concerns that this will now exacerbate the homeless crisis in this county.
