Midwest Simon CEO Says People Going Without Food To Ensure Rent Is Paid

The CEO of Midwest Simon says people in the region are going without food towards the end of the month so they can afford to pay their rent.

Latest figures from the Department of Housing show there’s been a drop in overall homelessness levels in this county in the past year, though there’s been an increase in the number of families accessing emergency accommodation.

The spiralling cost of living has prompted fresh concerns from stakeholders about the region’s ‘hidden homeless’ who are struggling to make ends meet.

Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Midwest Simon CEO Jackie Bonfield says they are seriously concerned about the pressures rising inflation is putting on people in the region.
