Mid-West Simon is calling for a Government funded programme to provide help to those struggling with mortgage arrears.
It comes as new figures show that home repossessions rose by 8% in 2015, with over a dozen applications for emergency accomodation in Clare last December alone.
New figures revealed by The Peter McVerry Trust show a massive rise in the number of home reposessions across the country which its said is leading to the lates spate of homelessness.
In Clare, 14 people accessed emergency accomodation in December while, separately, in the first nine months of the year, 14 possession orders were granted by the courts.
The organisation say the provision of 100 housing units in each of 22 counties, including Clare, could solve the crisis, but Mid-West Simon insists that measures need to be put in place to prevent people from having to leave their homes in the first place.
General Manager Jackie Bonfield says agencies and the Government need to come together to target the issue once and for all.
Meanwhile, it's claimed both the building of new houses and the renovation of older buildings is required to tackle a lack of social housing in Clare.
Councillor Ian Lynch says even though 180 million euro has been released for 1000 housing units around the country, none of this went to Clare.
The Independent candidate has expressed anger and disappointment.
