Community pharmacists in the Mid West are expressing frustration that people awaiting a COVID-19 test result are presenting to pharmacies in person.
Over four-and-a-half-thousand cases of the virus have been reported across Clare, Limerick and Tipperary alone n the past week, and it’s reported that people in Clare have attended pharmacies despite having symptoms.
The Chief Medical Officer said earlier this week that anyone with flu-like symptoms should now assume they have COVID-19 due to the high prevalence of the disease.
Chief Pharmacist with HSE Mid West Community Healthcare, Louisa Power, says people with symptoms should not be mixing with the public.
