New CSO figures show 350 less people left the region’s dole queues in August, and that figure for the end of the month is nearly 2,500 or 6.3% less than this time last year.
Despite this, 36,900 people in Clare, North Tipperary and Limerick continue to claim some form of unemployment benefit.
The overall unemployment rate is now 13.4 per cent – down from 13.5 per cent in July. Full figures for Clare will be published tomorrow.
