Met Eireann has confirmed just how bad Clare's weather was last month.

Monthly figures for the weather station at Shannon Airport show that it recorded its coldest July since 1988, though the figure here was warmer than anywhere else in the country.
It was windy too – last month saw the highest monthly mean speed here in the month since 1974.
There was also an 25% extra rainfall when compared with a typical July.
