An MEP for this region claims the decision to refuse permission for a LNG terminal in the Shannon Estuary is a major setback.
An Bórd Pleanála finally made the call last week to turn down planning for the construction of a Liquified Natural Gas terminal at Ballylongford in Kerry by US Multinational New Fortress Energy.

The board made the decision on the basis that it would be ‘inappropriate’ to proceed while a government review of the national security of energy supply is still pending.
However Fine Gael MEP, Seán Kelly believes the judgement will diminish future investment opportunities in the locality.
