Consultant obstetrician, Dr Katherine Astbury, who treated Savita Halappanavar is expected to be among the witnesses to give evidence at her inquest today.

Dr Astbury is the doctor, who according to Praveen Halappanavar, refused to terminate his wife’s pregnancy telling her this is a Catholic country.
The HSE’s senior counsel indicated yesterday that Dr Astbury will absolutely deny ever having made such a comment.
31 year old Savita died last October, just days after she miscarried her baby at Galway University Hospital having contracted septicaemia.
