Measles Case Confirmed In Clare As Part Of Mid West Outbreak

The HSE has confirmed a case of measles has been detected in Clare, marking the first of the current outbreak in the Mid West to be found here.

A total of 22 cases have now been diagnosed since the beginning of the year, the majority of these in the Limerick city area.

Adults under the age of 40 are being urged to check if they’ve been vaccinated against measles and if not, to contact their GP for a free MMR injection.

Specialist in Public Health Dr Rose Fitzgerald says news of the spread to this county is a concern.
