McNamara wants increase in rental sector inspections

Clare’s Labour TD has called on the County Council to increase the number of inspections of rented accommodation, in order to protect tenants and create jobs.

A former adjudicator with the Private Residential Tenancies Board, Deputy Michael McNamara says he’s very concerned that the state is paying rent supplement for sub-standard accommodation.

Moneys paid to the Board are used to help fund inspection of homes, 400 of which took place in Clare last year.
