The Sinn Fein Candidate for the Presidential elections has rubbished claims that just two real contenders remain in the race for the Aras, insisting he’s still in to win.
Martin McGuinness was speaking following a brief visit to County Clare last evening which was cut short as he made his way from the TG4 debate in Galway to Cork, though he did greet supporters in Ennis briefly en route.
In an interview to be broadcast on Clare FM’s Morning Focus – Mr McGuinness said he’s told the public the truth about his IRA past and insisted he’s getting a good response despite Sean Gallagher and Michael D Higgins leading the polls.
The former Northern Ireland Deputy First Minister also questioned Mr Gallagher’s independence and denied claims that the last week of campaigning will be a battle between two candidates
