Former Republic of Ireland Soccer Star Paul McGrath has escaped conviction after admitting being drunk and abusive at a midlands hotel last June.

Tullamore District court heard gardaí found McGrath in the car park of the Tullamore Court Hotel in Offaly on June 29th last at 3am in an intoxicated and had tried to get into 2 cars.
Judge Alan Mitchell noted McGrath’s 5 previous convictions for road traffic and public order offences, but said it would be beneficial to everyone if he did something for the community.
He gave Paul McGrath the benefit of the probation act on condition he give a juvenile soccer team in the Midlands one day’s training.
