McGeever charged over alleged abduction

County Galway Property developer Kevin McGeever has appeared in court  charged in connection with his alleged abduction.

He’s been remanded  in custody with consent to bail and will appear before Harristown District Court again this Friday.

68 year old Kevin McGeever was found on a roadside in January and told Gardaí he had been  kidnapped by a gang and held hostage for eight months.

Last night, he was arrested in Clontarf in Dublin and taken to Gort Garda station in County Galway, where he was charged in connection with his alleged abduction.

At today’s court hearing, Mr McGeever of Nirvana, Ballywinna, Craughwell, Co Galway was charged with knowingly giving false information and wasting Garda time, between January 29th and February 28th 2013.

He was remanded in custody with consent to bail.

Strict bail conditions were imposed – including that the defendant surrender all valid passports and refrain from applying for any travel documents, that he provide an address where he tends to reside and to give seven days notice if he intends to change address.

He must also sign in three times weekly at a Garda station.

He  will appear before Harristown District Court again this Friday.
