A house furnishing company expanding into Ennis is aiming to carry on the traditions of a family-run business in the town.
McDermott’s House Furnishers, which has been operating on Spencer Street in Castlebar since 1964, is opening its new store on Station Road tomorrow, after Madden’s Furniture ceased trading there in July after almost 50 years.

While the business will be run by the McDermott family, an additional two jobs have been created, with a number of the existing Madden’s staff remaining on with the new company.
Manager of McDermott’s House Furnishers, David Haugh says they want to build on the legacy of the previous owners.
