Mayor of Ennis hopes pedestrianisation can be revisted

The newly elected Mayor of Ennis says he wants to hold further talks with local businesses with regards to pedestrianisation of the county town’s main streets.

Mayor Peter Considine, who took the mayoral chains for a seventh time last night, and says he is in favour of the attempting to introduce car- free shopping once more.

The plan has been met with strong opposition in the past however, and Councillor Considine says he won’t strong-arm anyone into accepting it.
