Mayor Of Ennis Hails Lidl Approval As Major Win For The Town

The Mayor of Ennis is hailing the approval of Lidl’s €20m project at Toberteascáin as a major win for the town.

It’s after the German supermarket giant overcame an appeal stalling its plans for a new store, 20 apartments, playground, café and two retail units on the Clare Road junction, which is expected to create 30 permanent jobs.

The Retail Grocery Dairy Allied Trades Association objected to the development, citing concerns for the survival of shops in the town.

But Cathaoirleach of the Ennis Municipal District Councillor Clare Colleran-Molloy believes it’s needed for the growing population.
