The Mayor of Clare says the people of the county are concerned about the introduction of a property tax, perhaps as soon as 2013.
The government has set up a group to examine how the charge could be administered

Environment Minister Phil Hogan insists no decision has been made on it’s potential cost to homeowners, but a Commission of Taxation report recommended that the charge for the avreage home be 536 euro.
Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus today, Mayor of Clare Councillor Pat Hayes said this would be a large burden to many, especially those who purchased homes at the height of the boom.
