The Mayor of Clare has decided to forgoe his allowance for Christmas cards, in order to donate the funds to three local charities.

Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council James Breen will divide the €1,000 allowance between Clare Haven, Truckrun4Katie and the St Vincent de Paul.
He says that, as a public representative, he has always prioritised local charities.
