The new Mayor of Clare hopes to convince the Transport Minister this week that Clare County Council should have a greater role in the future development of Shannon Airport.
In one of his first engagements in the role Clr Pat Daly will head up a deputation to Dublin on Wednesday to meet with Leo Varadkar over his proposals for an independent stand alone airport.

Last week Minister Varadkar rejected calls for the local authority to have a seat on the board of the steering groups established to oversee the separation of Shannon from the Dublin Airport Authority.
However he added that he would take all views on board – something Mayor Daly plans to address with the Minister
