The Mayor of Clare says “the benefits will outweigh the inconveniences” in relation to potential traffic delays arising from the construction of the Killaloe bypass.
Construction is ongoing on the project which will see a new bridge joining Killaloe and Ballina as well as upgrades on the R494 road to Birdhill.
The bypass is due to be completed by this October and will be opened separately to the rest of the project which is expected to be completed by March 2025.
Responding to concerns about traffic delays due to the prevalence of machinery on local roads, Killaloe Councillor Tony O’Brien says they are an inconvenience but only represent a short-term problem.
