Mayor Of Clare Says Expanding Rural Sewerage Infrastructure Will Be Main Priority In 2024

The Mayor of Clare says that the improvement of wastewater infrastructure in rural areas will be his chief priority in 2024.

As it stands, 50 settlements in this county have no connection to public sewerage systems, while capacity issues in areas such as Newmarket, Killaloe and Lahinch has recently led to the refusal of major housing developments.

Earlier this month, Cooraclare and Broadford became the first two Clare villages to be accepted into a €50m treatment plant scheme.

Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council and Bodyke Councillor Joe Cooney says that the delivery of these projects in a timely manner is crucial.
