Calls have been made for a major increase in Garda numbers and an Armed Support Unit in Ennis following a string of violent incidents.
Gardaí continue to investigate a shooting in Dun Na Hinse and a serious assault at Clancy Park in Ennis which resulted in a man sustaining significant injuries that both occurred in the past 6 days.

There are currently 84 fewer Gardaí operating in the county town than there were in 2007, while Ennis received just one new Garda from the latest batch of Templemore recruits.
Mayor of Ennis, Clarecastle Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Guilfoyle says it’s nowhere near good enough.
