In an update to elected representatives, Council officials have said the planned works on the Glór site in Ennis are progressing, with a preliminary design stage now completed.
A more detailed design is expected to be submitted to the Department late next month, with a view to seeking planning permission once this is approved.
A full cost breakdown will also be prepared at this time, but the project is already estimated to cost 8.6 million euro, a figure which has led some to question whether the funding could be better spent.
