Man Who Died on Lahinch Beach Named Locally

The man who died at Lahinch beach has been named locally as Patrick O'Connell from Broadford. 

Mr O'Connell had been standing in shallow water on the thronged shore line, when he collapsed suddenly around 3.30 yesterday afternoon.

Efforts by local lifeguards to resuciate him failed and he was prounced dead at the scene.

Mr O'Connell will be laid to rest on Wednesday after funeral mass at St Peter's Church Broadford.
