Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting in County Laois

The victim – in his 20’s – was wounded in the incident in Portarlington at about half about past eight this morning.
He was taken to Tullamore General Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination, and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
