A man killed in a road traffic collision in East Clare over the weekend has been named locally.
Long-time Broadford resident, Sergeant Andrew O’Riordan, lost his life after the car he was travelling in was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the R466 at Gortnaglough outside Broadford shortly after 5:30 on Sunday evening.

The County Cork native and father of five had lived in the Clare village and was stationed at Mayorstone Park in Limerick for over two decades.
In 2023, he became the first English speaker to graduate from from École nationale supérieure de la Police (French National School of Police) after a year of training as part of a diplomatic exchange.
