Man Injured In Jetski Accident In East Clare

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was injured in an incident involving a jetski in East Clare this afternoon.

It’s understood that the man in his 30s lost control of his jetski and collided with the pier at Williamstown Harbour near Whitegate.  The incident occurred shortly after 4.00pm.

National Ambulance Service paramedics, Gardaí an units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Scariff station responded to the incident.

The HSE’s Cork-based Emergency Aeromedical Service air ambulance was also tasked to the scene.

The Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was also requested to assist.

When the lifeboat was midway across the bay, volunteers were informed that the casualty had safely been taken from the water and was being attended to by ambulance crews. The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

The man was assessed and treated by paramedics before being airlifted to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. It’s understood he suffered lower limb injuries.
