A man is being treated in hospital after being seriously injured in a fall on board a boat in East Clare.

The incident happened as the vessel was moored at Mountshannon Harbour at around 10.30 yesterday morning and the man in his 40’s suffered a deep laceration to his leg.
Emergency services including the local fire brigade attended the scene – who aided in removing him from the vessel and onto the HSE’s emergency aero medical helicopter.
He was then airlifted to University Hospital Galway where he was expected to undergo surgery last night.
