Man In Need Of “Very Urgent” Care Died On Trolley At UHL

An inquest has heard how a Limerick man who was deemed to be a "very urgent" case was not seen by a doctor at University Hospital Limerick until he was found dead on a trolley over three hours after he was admitted.

33-year-old Darragh Curley from Castletroy had taken an overdose of tablets, and was rushed to the hospital in the early hours of July 8 last year.

His inquest heard that this was "an incredibly busy night", so a special cubicle was not available for him even though he was deemed by a nurse as needing urgent care.

He received further care from nurses, but was later found unresponsive on a trolley.

His partner has said that she feels more could have been done to save Darragh Curley, while an open verdict was recorded by coroner Dr. Tony Casey.
