A man has been hospitalised after being seriously assaulted by an intruder in his Clare home.
A Garda investigation is underway following the aggravated buglary in a Clarecastle housing estate at the weekend.
Shortly before half past seven on Saturday evening, Gardaí received a report of a man entering a residential apartment in the Cluain Ard Estate in Clarecastle.
It’s understood a man in his early 30’s, who was in the apartment at the time, was seriously assaulted with an implement.
The perpetrator fled the scene and the young male was subsequently taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí have described this as a serious incident.
They’re appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
