Man held over Shannon stabbing

A 21 year old man’s been arrested in connection with a knife attack in Shannon in which a man was stabbed in the stomach.

The suspect was detained by gardaí  early this morning.

On Sunday September 30’s a man in his mid 30’s was attacked as his answered the front door of his home in the Cluain Airne Estate at 6.30 in the morning.

He suffered stab wounds to his stomach and underwent surgery at Limerick Regional Hospital.

Gardaí  launched an investigation into the incident and following a fresh appeal for information regarding the clothing the assailant was wearing at the time, officers carried out a search of a home in the Drumgeely area this morning.

A 21 year old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the knife attack and taken to Shannon Garda Station for questioning.

He’s being held under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act
