Gardaí are quizzing a man following an attempted raid on a post office in South East Clare yesterday
The premises in Ardnacrusha was targeted shortly after it opened
Around half past nine a lone male entered Ardnacrusha Post Office and produced an object which he claimed was a firearm, and demanded money.
However speaking to Clare FM – The Postmistress said there was a timelock delay on the safe and the man panicked and left empty-handed.
An investigation was launched involving local gardaí and members of the Armed Regional support unit.
A short time later a 29 year old man was arrested in Limerick City and taken to Mayorstone Garda Station where he’s being detained under section 4 of the Criminal justice act.
