Man Dies Following Crash Between Bunratty And Sixmilebridge

A man in his 40’s has died in a road crash between Bunratty and Sixmilebridge this evening.

Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the area between junction 6 and junction 7 on the N18 if possible.

It’s understood the single vehicle collision happened this afternoon between exit 6 and 7 of the road on the Limerick side.

The vehicle was believed to have been towing a trailer containing animals on the road when the incident occurred.

A man in his late 40’s, understood to be from county Limerick, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

Gardai, the National Ambulance Service and six units of the fire service from Ennis and Shannon are attending the scene this evening.

Drivers are being warned to expect long delays and to avoid the area if possible, with traffic management measures currently in place through Sixmilebridge.

Forensic investigators are expected to begin a technical examination of the site this evening.
