A man has died following a road crash on the Clare/Limerick border this afternoon.
The two car collision occurred earlier this morning at the the junction of Old Cratloe Road and Woodcockhill Road.
The incident happened about 100 metres on the Clare side of the border with County Limerick this morning.
Units of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service responded to the collision along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí.
It’s understood a man in his late 40’s, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was fatally injured when the incident occurred.
His body has been removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will take place shortly.
A man in his mid-20s who was driving the same vehicle has been taken to UHL to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A man in his late 60s driving the second vehicle was uninjured.
The road remains closed this evening and Forensic Collision Investigators are carrying out a technical examination of the scene, with local diversions in place.
