A man has died after collapsing on Lahinch beach.

The incident happened at around 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, when a man in his 70s who is understood to be from East Clare, collapsed in shallow waters at the busy beach.
Lifeguards rushed to his aid, and a defibrillator was used in an effort to resuscitate him, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out today.
