A man has died after a flight he was travelling on diverted to Shannon Airport.
The Royal Jordanian flight was enroute from Chicago to Amman this morning when crew alerted controllers at the Mid-West Airport of an emergency on board.
The Royal Jordanian flight was flying from Chicago to Amman when crew reported that a male passenger was in need of immediate medical attention.
The flight diverted to Shannon where it was met by ambulance personnel and a doctor when it touched down around 10am this morning.
The man in his sixties, who is a Jordanian national, was pronounced dead a short time later and his body was transferred to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí have confirmed that they are treating the incident as a sudden death and that efforts will be made to contact family members.
There was 180 passengers on board Flight RJ-264 which resumed it's flight around midday today.
