The case had been adjourned to allow for DNA tests to be carried out on both men, one of whom is married to the mother.

However, it was the other man who was found to be the father in a result accepted by all parties.

The girl’s father is now seeking the right to make major decisions affecting the child's upbringing, but the mother said she would object to him getting this.

Judge Patrick Durcan said the matter would be determined by the court, and he advised all parties to obtain legal advice before a hearing next month.

He also struck out the husband's application for the guardianship of the baby girl.
