A man's in a critical condition in hospital in Mayo after he was stabbed in Ballina in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí were called to a house in Tom Clarke Place in the town after 4 am, and found the victim, who's understood to be local, inside.
The man in his 50s was then rushed to Mayo General hospital in Castlebar for treatment and surgery.
