Man Charged With Murder Of Clare Pensioner In London To Appear In Court Again Next Week

A man charged with the murder of Clare man Thomas O’Halloran in London, will appear again in court on Tuesday.

Mr O’Halloran, who is originally from Ennistymon, was stabbed to death in his mobility scooter earlier this week.

44 year old Lee Byer is charged with murder and the posession of an offensive weapon – a large knife.

At Willesden Magistrates’ Court this morning, he spoke only to confirm his name, his date of birth and that he’s of no fixed abode.

Byer is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

President Michael D Higgins has expressed his ‘profound sympathy’ to the O’Halloran family.

He’s also offering his condolences to all who knew the Clare native in London and Ireland.

He says Thomas expressed generosity and kindness in his life.

President Higgins says he had musical talent, which he shared recently to collect money for those impacted by the Ukraine war.
