Mass attendance may be low in Clare parishes, but an overwhelming majority of the population are Catholics.

The latest breakdown from the Census reveals that 101,984 Clare residents are declared Catholics out of a total population of 117, 196.
7,033 people marked themselves down as being members of other faiths, 6,384 said they had no religion, while 1,795 didn’t answer the Census query on religion.
