A major search operation has resumed off the the West Clare Coast for two missing fisherman from Quilty.
The alarm was raised at around 8 o’clock last night after their 26 ft vessel the Lady Eileen failed to return to shore at five o’clock as expected.
A major search involving Doolin Coastguard, Kilkee Marine Search and Rescue Aran Islands RNLI the Waterford based coastguard helicopter and local vessels ensued.
It was called off at around 2 am but resumed at first light this morning as locals and rescue services carried out a shoreline search from Liscannor to Quilty and boat debris was discovered in the Spanish point area.
Garda divers are expected to join in the operation at around 12 o’clock for the two men.
Both fishermen are from the Quilty area and prayers are being said at 10 o’clock mass at The Star of the Sea Church in Quilty .
Mattie Shannon from Doolin Coastguard says the boat was last spotted in Spanish Point area at around 3 yesterday as the two men went out to move their pots.
