Major Development Boost for West Clare

Up to 300 new jobs are expected to be created in West Clare with the development of one of the country’s largest Windfarms.

The 200 million euro proposed project, will see the construction of thirty 3 Mega Watt wind turbines on the slopes of Mount Callan, between Ennis and Miltown Malbay over a three year period.

This would make it capable of generating enough electricity to power every home and business in Clare as well as meeting the Limerick Clare Energy Agency’s 20/10 targets for emissions reduction and renewable energy production.

It’s a community based project and comprises of West Clare Renewables and 30 farm families who own the 3000 acres needed for the wind turbines.

While the development’s still subject to planning permission company chairman and Clare-based entrepreneur Padraig Howard’s confident of moving forward
